Andrei Bossov's original ballet, "A Few Ballroom Dances" was Bossov Ballet Theatre's very first performance when it was staged at the Waterville Opera House and subsequently at Colby College in the fall of 1996. It is a one act story/ballet, all female parts en pointe, in an exciting merging of classic Vaganova and contemporary styles. It is a string of men and women searching for love, at once humorous, romantic, and sad. The scene depicts a 1930s dance hall where singles go to meet, dance, and if they're fortunate, find true love. Set to music ranging from Tommy Dorsey to German cabaret music of the 30s, "Ballroom" stands as a true Bossov masterpiece. "Ballroom" was performed most recently as BBT's 10th anniversary celebration at the University of Maine campus in Orono.
